Cards for Friends

I stayed up until midnight making these two cards for friends. The first one is for a woman who took the time to send my yearbook class a 1917 Sunnyside High School Mirror Yearbook. It is now the oldest yearbook we have for our school. We didn't even know the yearbook was produced during that year. It was so nice of her to send it.

The second card is one that I made for a friend that was dying. We were told he wouldn't live past the week. He was a great guy that did a lot behind the scenes with kids. I wanted the kids to send him a thank you for all he had done. After all, we don't work with kids because it pays well. I thought he would love to hear how the kids appreciated all his work. A co-worker delivered it for me that next afternoon and he died that night after he got the card. I don't know if he actually was able to read it but I know the family will appreciate it if he didn't.

Captain Adorable

Josh running around the house with his little footsteps is a treasure. Add that to his Captain Adorable jammies and it is priceless. :) These are October Afternoon Papers and stickers. The All Boy sticker is My Minds Eye and the gray letter stickers and wood stars are Studio Calico. The paper star is a Sizzix star die cut out of a coffee insulator.

Praying Friend

I am very excited to get to scrapbook not just once but twice today and today isn't done yet. :) This little "praying" friend showed up one day when Josh was sick. He was a foot away from his face staring at him while he was sleeping.

I used American Crafts Embellishments and paper. The Journaling paper is Basic Grey. The Letter Stickers are October Afternoon and Studio Calico. I am having lots of fun with a corner rounder today.

Spud-Authentique Free Bird Paper

There are just some papers I hoard because I love them so much. This is one of them. The Free Bird Authentique line is so cute. I LOVE the oranges and blues of this line. (I know. There are several just as wonderful lines in the Free Bird series.) These colors are perfect for pictures of my little boy or home decor projects. I just wish they would make it big sized too. :) The round letter stickers are and typed lines on the left are also Athentique. The large banner that says "Best Buddies," the bakers twine on the card, and round sticker under the star are by My Mind's Eye. The stars are cut with the stars Sizzix die out of coffee insulators.

This page is in tribute to Josh's bestest little friend Spud. Spud is a baby seal from Aunt Alyson and Josh loves it and carries it everywhere.

I even had enough time to make a card from my scraps. :)

Yakima Brides Magazine Photos

My photos were published in the Yakima Vally Brides magazine this month. It was fun to see them in print. I was surprised to see the photos they picked to publish and how many of them they actually printed. So fun. :)

Scrapbooking Fun in Edmonds

This last weekend Shawn and I had to head over the mountains for a Dr's visit. Shawn suggested I bring some scrapbooking with me because he knows I love to do this stuff when I have time without the kids. Or, so I thought. Shawn had other plans. I didn't know the Rosebowl would be on and since this hotel had cable...well, I enjoyed myself and got several pages done. I even finished a couple of pages I started a couple of years ago and didn't finish.

Every year the kids and I make tags for our presents. This year Josh helped me Stamp and emboss each tag. It was really cute. The table is a little red now but it is worth it.

December Daily

This year I decided I would try to make a December Daily album. That is really saying a lot since I really do not like daily albums. I thought December might be fun though. There are so many fun things going on during December. The book has twenty five pages and twenty-six dividers with numbers on them. I put the book together early so that I would only have to worry about placing photos during this busy month. Here are a couple of photos of pages I liked and a large shot of ALL the dividers. There were a lot!

I don't know what God is doing in my life is this area of photography. My cousin asked me to take photos at her wedding. Then students kept asking me to take their Senior photos. Now a friend asked me to take her family photos (my first paid gig) and the photos I took this summer at my cousin's wedding are being published in a magazine. Crazy huh? These are some of my favorites from the last photo shoot.

I love making cards for friends. This card is made from Basic Grey's newest line Out of Print. The embellishments are made by Jillybean Soup and Basic Grey. I was sending a check so I included a inside pocket. :) I thought it turned out really cute.

I recently made a welcome sign for my home for a Design Team contest. One of my good friends saw it and requested one for her birthday. I have always thought it would be cool to make some other flags and banners to hang from the sign for different seasons. I decided this would be a great time to figure a few out. I made a Welcome sign with My Mind's Eye papers, Believe sign for Christmas using Authentique Christmas papers, and a Breast Cancer Awareness sign using Authentique papers. It turned out great.

Big Boy Bed

We surprised Josh with his new bed. He went over to grandma's in the morning and came home to a new bed. He was more than OK with the fact that his crib was gone. I love these October Afternoon papers as you can see by how much I have used them. The stars are Studio calico and the Stop lights and journaling spots are Basic Grey. I sprayed the stars with Glimmer mist for an extra shine.

What is a girl to do when she needs dividers for her class and doesn't have any? Why make some of course. I love the look of my new dividers that I made for the class I am teaching at YVCC. They make me smile. :)

I used Plain kraft paper with the Retro punch, Scallop Circle punch, Zig marker, Doodlebug buttons, ribbon, and of course beautiful Authentique paper.

Getting my two new scrapbooking magazines in the mail, I was more than inspired to scrapbook. So I with my paint and glitter decided I was going to try something new. I had seen people mix paint and glitter, throw it on a page and it looked beautiful. So, I tryed it...my paint was lumpy and had more of a fluffy effect. That is alright. I was happy with the final page. I used Studio Calico and My Mind's Eye patterned papers. Kaiser Rhinestones, and buttons.

I made this card from all the scraps. :) I am trying to do better at making more from my papers.

Wedding Gift

I am ready to present the pictures I took of my cousin's wedding to her for her wedding gift. I found this frame at Hobby Lobby. I loved the 5x7 frames and the smooth black finish. I decided to put all black and white photos in the frame with the exception of a little color in the middle photo. The couple loved it.

American Crafts Design Team Tryout Project

I made it. I completed all the pieces I need to compete in the American Crafts Design Team Contest. This last project was inspired by all the different frames I kept seeing in the photos and movies from CHA. The hanging paper globes and hearts are inspired by Hambly. All of the patterned paper is by American Crafts as well as the Thickers and several of the ribbons. The clothes pins and wire are bought at
Walmart.

I am almost done. Yeah! I have a fun project planned next so I better get started or I will be up really late tonight. Midnight oil is somtimes good though. It makes me more creative. In the long run it really doesn't matter. I enjoy the creativeness of making things from a set of products to enter these contests. :)

This layout took longer than usual because I wanted to make sure the love Josh showed to me with his little hearts showed through my page. I think it turned out really well. All papers are American Crafts with the Exception of the journal spot which is October Afternoon. The embellishment hearts are made by Joshua with a Martha Stewart Punch and the Flare and brad was made by American Crafts. I used my sewing machine to stitch all the papers together.

Craft Warehouse Assignment #6- Part 3

This project is a Designers choice. I decided to make a mini album from the Cosmo Cricket papers and photos of things Ellie loves at six. I used Cosmo Cricket papers, buttons, cardstock, Dark Brown chalk ink, fabric, ribbon, tiny type and lots of glue. I sanded down the game pieces to paint them brown with the chalk ink pad to avoid the look of a Christmas layout.

Craft Warehouse Inspired Hair Clip

Originally these two flowers were supposed to be placed on my layout but they were too big and Ellie liked them a lot so I made her a hair clip. :) The flower is made from Glubers, fabric, a Tim Holtz Game piece and a hair clip. Jennifer Coweles from the 2010 Design Team placed hers on a headband. That is what gave me the idea. ;)

Photo Idea "Smash" Book

I didn't think I would like the idea of the Smash Book. No scrapbooking, just slapping ideas and information into a book? Then I decided I needed to collect some ideas to photograph my cousin's wedding. I needed something easy to use but I wanted it to look nice enough that it wouldn't be trashy at the wedding ceremony. :) the smash book is perfect. It is also addicting. Craft Warehouse had several of the accessories and they are all reasonably priced. I probably would have bought more if they had it. I was hooked. I designed a very simple cover for it today. I think it looks great.

Craft Warehouse Assignment #5-Part 1

I am so excited about the current assignment with craft warehouse. There are four parts to this assignment. Create a mini book, create two one page spreads one being 3D and use a chalkboard sticker on something in your home. Today I spent many many hours creating my mini book.

These lines didn't have any dimensional elements in them so I took a tip from my friend Diana to add height by using multiple layers of paper. Then I did it over and over and over again. I did this on the button embellishments on the front and glued several pages in the book itself together to make a chipboard look.

The finished product was so cute. I am tempted not to give it away!

This month's assignment was to use the Flora and Fauna K & Co. collection and the Tim Holtz Configurations Box. I thought of my grandparents as soon as I saw this paper line. I loved it and added a wedding photo of my grandparents to the project. I used wood beads as the feet and spray painted the boxes with chalkboard paint.

I had to make eight teacher gifts this year. Not because I have eight kids but work at a school. I found these letters on sale at Craft Warehouse and thought they were really cute. I then painted them with Chalkboard paint and tied a piece of chalk to each one.

I also made each teacher a card. The card is made with Echo Park and My Minds Eye papers. The embossed Christmas wording is from Tim Holtz.

11.20.2010 Craft Warehouse Assignment #3

About two weeks ago I submitted my Design Team Assignments for project #3. This month we worked with Echo Park's "Everybody Loves Christmas" and Basic Grey Lines "Wander" and "Pyrus." It was so much fun. I wish I would have had more time to take some great photos of the projects. This project was a quick one due within three weeks and it was really hard to get into the Christmas swing of things. :)

11.19.2010 Mother in Law Gift: Day One

OK...The project is started. I started last night glimmer misting Eight 6x6 BasicGrey papers.

This morning I punched over 50 retro flowers from the Glimmer Misted paper. I used four flowers to make each rose. I glued each layer together and then put a pearl in the middle of each one and curled each petal. Then I finger painted stickles on the top of each flower.

Now it is back to thinking time. I would like to cover the bottom of the lantern with the flowers and somehow get a picture of her Grand kids in there but I need some height . I thought about using one of those battery powered candles to put in the middle but would have to hot glue the flowers on the bottom so she can move the candle in and out to turn it on and off. What do you think?

11.13.2010 Josh & Mr Yeow Board Book

Every time my son looked at these pictures a huge smile came across his face so I decided he needed his own book. This book was made with the new My Minds Eye papers True Blue, chipboard, 7 Gypsies Cable Rings and a ton of ModPodge. Since Josh would be playing with it I wanted to make sure things were securely glued down and simple.

Sorry for the blurry photos. My battery was going dead but I wanted to get photos posted before Josh started playing with it. :)

I am having a lot of fun tonight scrapping and watching TV with Shawn. Tonight I am using new papers from the My Minds Eye Alphabet Soup Boy Collection. It is really cute. I also used Sassafrass Flag Stickers, Stickles, and Websters Letter stickers. Turned out simple and clean.

8.8.10 Going Away

I wanted to make a going away gift for Marjorie, Jeremiah, and Judah. So in the afternoon after I got home from Yearbook Camp in Spokane I put this little book together. I used some scraps of paper and cut them at a quarter inch strips and then sewed then to another sheet of paper and attached that sheet to the book. The album is meant to be a journal for their time as Missionaries in Bolivia so the Creative Cafe journal album was perfect. It was fun and personal.

This is another part of our design team project for August. We had to design a layout using the Sassafrass line and then design a card using only Prima flowers and cardstock. It was a challenge but it was fun.

This was a really fun way to scrap a lot of photos at one time. I scrapbooked 90+ photos in a little over three hours. The result was simple but looks good. This is the multimedia album with 7gypsies cable rings on the side. I also used Cosmo Cricket papers and stickers then painted over them with Tim Holtz Rock Candy. The rock candy gives it a distressed old look.

My husband is at camp this week and my parents asked if they could have the kids overnight. Scrapbook time!!! I know it doesn't show up well in the photo but the background has more banners and is covered in Rock Candy. Gives it a really cool look. I used the brown ink pad to color my white ribbon. I also used the edge of one of the sheets of Indie girl to get the scalloped banner on the background. Lots of fun.

My cousin Tyler is getting married. He and his fiance decided they would have the ceremony on the beautiful Cannon Beach. Only one problem, they have never been to the site and they don't plan on visiting the site until the wedding. Hard to plan. So since we were down there anyways we decided to take some pictures of the site and put it into a mini book for her. Then I thought my aunt, the Mother of the groom, would like one too so I made one for her as well.

I decided to enter the Craft Warehouse Design Team competition one week before it was due. I had just finished the yearbook and I was ready for another challenge. I want to do two things in the next few years. One was apply to be on a design team and the other is to go to Washington DC with Shawn and the kids. Well, I applied and won! I am so honored to be part of the new team this year and I can't wait to take the challenge. God has blessed me with this opportunity.

Just finished making the cover and cutting all the pages for my 365 Day album. Lots of fun. Since this photo I have added a tag and tabs. But I had to take the tag off to take the pages out. I like making covers. Now if only I can keep up and finish all 365 days. Or is it 367?

011. Busy December

So I was determined to finish all my projects before this Christmas. I didn't even get close but I did a lot. I started with a couple of bridal shower prizes. It was fun to make these little guys.

Then I had to make the actual baby shower gift. This one caused a problem. I was going to write with vinyl on the glass in my frame but This frame was too well made for that. I would have had to glue the glass in. Instead I Made it in fabric. I think it turned out nice.

The last thing I did was make my work friends gifts. An army of reindeer. It was a lot of work but they turned out very nice.

It was fun. Only around seven projects to go. :)

Our our way home from my training Shawn surprised me with a trip to Lasting Memories. They were all set up for Christmas. It was their Christmas open house. :) They have so many great ideas. I used Shawn's phone and got a few pictures. I even found a Christmas gift there for someone. I wonder if I should put it together or should I let her? hummmm..

007. Finished Projects

Just finished one project and a part of another. :) My trees turned out cute but one is a little Charlie Brownish and each has it's own personality. I also finished the fronts of the boards for my hallway but I ran into an issue. The panels are about a quarter of an inch too small :( Oops. I also can't get the backs off of the frames. I will have to have Shawn work on it for me. I might have to make a change of plans if neither of these things work.

006. Mass Production and a Little Help

Yesterday I spent the entire day cutting out material for two of my projects. I cut out eight tree napkins and trunks, and the parts to my bulletin boards for the hall. Today my goal is to sew them all up and iron them so they can be put together. Unfortunately I have a little helper that has decided he can help by pushing the pedal on the sewing machine when my fingers are in it. I cleaned it all out and unjammed it and then five minutes later he does it again. I give up for now. I will go back to it later.

Ellie was so concerned at the end of her preschool year that Mrs. Miller was going to forget her. So we decided one way to help Ellie feel a little more secure in leaving was to make her a gift. We went to the local craft store and she picked out what she wanted to make. She was so proud. My layout uses a Basic Gray 6x6 paper pack and Jennie Bowlin letter stickers. I was excited to see how it turned out.

004. Building an Army of Reindeer

I had so much fun decorating these little reindeer for Craft warehouse. Now I have decided to make more for gifts this Christmas. I love giving gifts. I bought a different paper line for the rest of the army. My Minds Eye was on sale. I got 54 sheets for $13. How great is that. :)

003. Debbie's Birthday Card

Tomorrow is Debbie's birthday and this weekend I plan on finishing up her birthday gift but I wanted to have something in hand to celebrate with today. I chose a Carmel machiato and a homemade card. I had fun finger paining the butterfly on the card and using glitter. The glimmer mist was fun as well.

002. Cork Board

For our wedding a friend gave us a simple 8x8 cork board. For years I have admired it. This weekend I went to Craftwarehouse for a couple of supplies for a gift for Alyson's birthday. Unfortunalty they didn't have what I needed and I had to change plans. I saw a piece of corkboard and immediatly I knew what I wanted to make. I bought a frame, the corkboard, and some really cute tacks then Ellie and I put it together in less than 15minutes. It was very easy. I may have to repeat this for Christmas gifts this year.
